Board of Directors Nominations.

It's time for the annual EYHA Board of Directors open position notification. The positions up for renewal this year are listed below. Any opening with more than one candidate will participate in an online EYHA member vote, with the majority vote-receiving candidate selected. Detailed descriptions are listed below and can also be found in the EYHA By-Laws (Evansville Youth Hockey Association | EYHA Bylaws) posted on our website. All positions will serve 2-year terms. Elections will be the first week in March and elected officials will assume their roles at the April 2024 board meeting.

Directors will hold office for two (2) years with staggered terms. The President, Vice-President House, Secretary, Finance Director, Referee Director, Risk Manager, and one each At-Large House and Travel representatives will be elected in even calendar years.

PRESIDENT The President will be the principal executive officer of the corporation and will supervise and control all the businesses and affairs of the corporation. The President will preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors. The President may sign, with the Secretary or any other proper officer of the corporation authorized by the Board of Directors, any deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts, or other instruments which the Board of Directors has authorized to be executed except in cases where they signing and execution thereof will be expressly delegated by the Board of Directors or by these bylaws or by statute to some other officer or agent of the corporation. The President or designee will represent the corporation in any local, state, regional, or national meeting.

VICE PRESIDENTS There will be a Vice President House and a Vice President Travel. The Vice Presidents will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the House and Travel programs. The Vice Presidents will nominate the Commissioners and Managers of each House, and Travel team for approval by the Board of Directors. The Vice Presidents will update and post the "parents' handbook." The VP of House and At Large House Representatives will establish, promote, and manage developmental/learn-to-play programs for new players. The Vice Presidents will perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.

SECRETARY In the absence of the President or in the event of the President's inability or refusal to act, the Secretary will perform the duties of the President and when so acting will have all the powers of, and be subjected to the restrictions upon, the President. The Secretary will keep the minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors and will post them on the website after approval by the Board of Directors; see that all notices are duly given; be the custodian of the corporate records; keep a register of the Post Office address of each member of the Board of Directors; will ascertain that all individual players, coaches, and managers are properly registered with the corporation and maintain a register thereof; and, in general, perform all duties incident to the office of the Secretary and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to the Secretary by the President or by the Board of Directors.

FINANCE DIRECTOR The finance director is a non-voting board position that assists the Treasurer in all EYHA financial activities. Including but not limited to banking activities for teams and the organization, financial document preparation, assistance with team budgets, and any other duties assigned by the Treasurer or Board of Directors.

REFEREE DIRECTOR The Referee Director is a non-voting board position. They will be responsible for the recruitment, training, enhancement, and scheduling of referees. The Referee Director will perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President of the Board of Directors.

RISK MANAGER Responsible for leadership and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor EYHA's operational and strategic risk. Ensures EYHA's risk management policies and strategies comply with USA Hockey guidelines. Is familiar with USA Hockey's rules, regulations, and procedures for submitting claims in the event of an injury or accident. Advises EYHA membership on the USA Hockey procedures. Coordinates and oversees disciplinary committees and hearings (except in cases of conflict of interest that warrant delegating to a different director), and maintains a record of disciplinary actions and Member conduct that does not comply with EYHA Codes of Conduct, USA Hockey Codes of Conduct, Locker Room Policy, and USA Hockey SafeSport Program.

AT LARGE HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE Represents the House program on issues that come before the EYHA Board. Assists the Vice President of House in organizing, managing, and running the house program, including High School Hockey and Spring Hockey. At large house representatives are non-voting board positions.

AT LARGE TRAVEL REPRESENTATIVE Represents the Travel program on issues that come before the EYHA Board. Assists the Vice President of Travel in organizing, managing, and running the travel program. At large travel representatives are non-voting board positions.
